Federal Vocational Baccalaureate

A certificate supplement can be useful for holders of a federal vocational baccalaureate who wish to apply for work abroad or with a foreign company in Switzerland. Certificate supplements enable employers outside of Switzerland as well as foreign companies based in Switzerland to determine what competences you possess and how your Swiss qualification compares to similar qualifications in other countries.

Certificate supplements for the federal vocational baccalaureates are available in English. They describe the competences, skills and knowledge acquired by holders of this qualification. Certificate supplements for federal vocational baccalaureates are similar in structure to those issued for the Federal VET Certificate (two-year VET programmes) or for the Federal VET Diploma (three-year or four-year VET programmes) and cover all FVB orientations. Since federal vocational baccalaureates are not referenced to the National Qualifications Framework for Vocational and Professional Qualifications (NQF VPQ), certificate supplements for these qualifications do not indicate an NQF level. Instead, an ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education) level is indicated.

Certificate supplements for federal vocational baccalaureates may be downloaded free of charge from the SERI website www.sbfi.admin.ch/bm (page not available in English). They are only valid when accompanied by the original Federal Vocational Baccalaureate and grades certificate.
